THE PLOT:

Nora wakes up after a night of trying to commit suicide by taking a whole bottle of non-perscription sleeping pills. She finds the city empty, devoid of life. She panics when she sees a dead body and runs into Frank. Someone else who slept through the mass evacuation of the city. But he was knocked out and mugged after a poker game.

Five people who were "LEFT BEHIND" in the city discover allthough it's devoid of human life, they are anything if alone. Stange alien robots from Venus have invaded the city and that was the cause of the evacuation. The robots kill anyone unlucky enough to cross it's path. The prelim to the invasion force.

Meanwhile the Government is experimenting on one that was destroyed, but for the life of them, can't figure out why? The question, will there be anyone left alive if and when they solve the mystery?

ZEDD'S OPINION:

Now here is a classic. But even a classic isn't perfect. I think they should have found a way to get a bigger budget. I blame the Producer for that. Anyway, I liked the design of the robots, I wish they had the budget to make more then one of the combat robots or as I dubbed them COMBOTS. The Combots are cool, the acting was good, the story was cool. I think the escaped killer seemed a bit tacked on due to budget constraints. But that'a small thing compared to the whole. This is a classic, the idea of aliens invading from Venus is not very realistic, but to be fair, we know more about Venus today then we did in 1954, so keeping that in mind. It's a cool classic worth watching over and over again. I give it 9 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I agree with Zedd for the most part. I agree the movie was kind of cool, I agree that the escaped gun wielding maniac seemed tacked on at the last moment. I agree about the "Combots" as he calls it. But I think the problems with TARGET EARTH goes deeper then that, I think it was slow, and at a mere 75 minutes, I was hoping it would be faster pace. I am sorry, but I am going to have to give it a mere 7 STARS. Good, but not great. Far from perfect.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ ROBOT EFFECTS (We both liked the COMBOTS design.)
+ STORY (To wake up to find everyone gone is scary concept.)
+ CHARACTERS (For the most part, I liked the characters.)
+ ACTING (The acting was pretty good.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- ESCAPED KILLER (The escaped killer seemed tacked on.)
- BUDGET ISSUES (I wish they pushed for a bigger budget.)

...AND FINALLY...

- PACE (Voltron found it kind of slow considering it is only seventy-five minutes.)
