Wing Commander: Space Will Never Be the Same (USA)
It's the mid-27th century and Earth is in the middle of a galactic war with a alien race called the Kilrathi. After an attack
on an Earth Base and stole a NAVCOM unit that will give them the hyperspace jump coordinates to Earth.
Now it's up to the brave men and women of the Tiger Claw to find this ship and steal the Navcom unit that they stole or
Earth may be taken off guard and become slaves of the Kirathi Empire.
Apparently early space travelers is allot like what happened on Earth. They left to escape religious persecution and these
pilgrims are hated for some strange reason. Bigotry is not to be tolerated by any means, race, creed, religion or style.
It's just wrong and the main problem is this subplot of everyone hating this guy just because he's a "pilgram" decent.
It's just wrong, now I don't know anything about the game series this movie is based on. I really don't. I can only judge
movie. The effects are good, the Kirathi are cool, the story for the most part works. I know enough of the game that they
got the first person outside the ship view and that's cool. It's cool. I give it...8 STARS
I agree with Zedd, I find most bigotry annoying and agravating. Which makes me give WING COMMANDER a slightly lower grade
then Zedd gave it. I agree, it was anything but dull and the people that does befriend are cool. But I can't get over the
bigotry. I'm afraid, it's a mere 7 STARS for me.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ STORY (The story works.)
+ FIRST PERSON VIEW (Never played the game, but I love that first person view.)
+ CHARACTERS (The lead characters were likeable.)
+ CREATURE EFFECTS (The creature effects are cool.)
+ EFFECTS (The space battles are way cool.)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- RELIGEOUS BIGOTRY (There is too much relegious bigotry in this future.)
