THE PLOT:
Dr. Curt Taylor wants all the wars to end and for mankind to live in peace. When he gets in contact with a creature from
Venus named Zontar. Zontar promises world peace.
Zontar keeps his world as everything in the world stops working. From electrical devises to the water supply. But Zontar
has also sent out drones to control the minds of certain people. These Zrones are really part of a world dominiation plot
that doesn't include Curt.
ZEDD'S OPINION:
Now what can I say about a movie that rips off another movie, even if said movie is made for TV? I don't just mean rips off
the concept, I mean rips off another movie word for freaking word. What? I can say theft. I can say deceit, I can wrong. What
I like to know is why didn't ROGER CORMEN, the man this LARRY BUCHANAN stole from time after time, why did Roger sue? I would
have, the first time this dirt bag stole one of my stories. Anyway, I will give him credit where credit is due. Zontar was
a better design then the creature this movie so blatantly ripped off. IT CONQUERED THE WORLD. Although I wish his eyes could
have moved, I think they able to do that effect in 1966. But I'm not sure. So, to sum up. If you seen IT CONQUERED THE WORLD,
then you've seen ZONTAR. I don't mean to speak ill of the dead. But if I knew where this jerk Larry Buchanan was buried, I
would dance on his grave. I give ZONTAR, THE THING FROM VENUS...THE NOOSE!
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
I couldn't agree more. I saw IT CONQUERED THE WORLD by Roger Cormen. Didn't care for it. But that's another review. But
to steal another man's story and rename it so he didn't know is just wrong. I am sorry that Larry Buchanan died in 2004.
That way he'll never be able to read what a jerk I think he is and how he was cheap and stupid to think we would never know
that ZONTAR is a rip off of IT. This whole movie is full of **IT! Larry Buchanan was full of **IT. I give ZONTAR, THE **IT
FRON VENUS....THE NOOSE as well.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ CREATURE DESIGN (We both liked the bat monster design of ZONTAR.)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- STORY (A complete word for word rip off of IT CONQUERED THE WORLD.)
- EYES (I wish the eyes could move on ZONTAR.)
- ACTING (I think the acting was better on IT.)
...AND FINALLY...
- FAN BASED (If you didn't like IT CONQUERED THE WORLD. Then steer clear of this conterfiet incarnation.)
